Having a big brother like the CRF450R brings a whole new meaning to the term hand-me-downs. Advanced technologies introduced and developed on the 450R are quickly passed down to the CRF250R making it every bit as competitive as its larger sibling. For 2015, the CRF250R gets upgrades and two new technologies. An all-new air forks designed specifically for the CRF250R by Showa and a mode selection button that allows riders to select from three different engine performance maps to suit track conditions. These innovative technologies make the CRF250R one of the most agile, balanced, flickable and easy to ride machines on the track today. Rivalry has never been stronger, as this machine is sure to be your competitive edge.
CHASSIS/SUSPENSION

Standard

  • Twin-spar aluminum chassis offers the benefit of a low centre-of-gravity with excellent feel and feedback. Designed to work in concert with the all-new air-fork and the Honda Progressive Steering Damper the chassis combines excellent stability with right now turning precision.
  • The Honda Progressive Steering Damper allows very precise steering in the widely varied conditions found in motocross. On the gas or on the brakes the rider will enjoy superior steering in ruts, whoops, stutter bumps or whatever the track throws their way.
  • An all-new inverted Showa air fork designed specifically for the CRF250R includes a number of clever innovations. By separating air spring and damping functions between left and right forks respectively, overall weight balance from left to right is improved when the weight of the brake is included. The left fork with its air spring not only offers reduced weight but its three-chambered design allows separate adjustment of ride height and "spring" rate. Together these innovations result in reduced weight, improved balance, superior suspension action and simplified adjustability.
  • Pro-link rear Showa suspension offers full damping adjustability and over 12 inches of smooth well-controlled travel.
  • A 20 mm larger front brake disc and redesigned rear brake disc offer improved stopping power and control.
  • New Dunlop MX52 tires offer excellent traction in a wide variety of conditions.
Engine/Drivetrain

Standard

  • Unique 4-valve, Unicam design has very compact dimensions allowing it to be ideally placed for excellent mass centralization. When combined with the advanced twin spar aluminum chassis the CRF250R offers its rider effortless direction changes on the ground or in the air.
  • The "stubby", twin-muffler design with its excellent mass centralization and left to right balance is retained. Redesigned muffler internals boost torque and increase throttle response when cornering, off the start line and at peak power.
  • Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) has new settings to take full advantage of changes to the exhaust system.
  • A convenient handlebar mounted engine mode selection button allows the rider to choose from three different maps to tailor power delivery to track conditions. A blue LED incorporated into the button housing lets the rider know if they have selected mode one, the standard setting, mode two a smooth setting for slippery conditions or mode three the most aggressive setting for when traction conditions are ideal. Modes two and three can even be fine tuned using an HRC setting tool. Mode selection is easily accomplished without changing the rider's hand position or shutting down the engine (as long as the engine is idling).
Additional Features

Standard

  • Optimized rider ergonomics with a very narrow mid section allow the rider to move freely around the motorcycle and fully utilize the CRF’s incredible agility.

  • Aluminum handlebar is rubber-mounted to reduce rider fatigue and improve comfort.
  • Wide, long footpegs offer greater support for more comfort and control.
  • The engine stop switch with integrated LED indicator lets you know if the PGM-FI system is working properly.
  • Redesigned fuel hose connector simplifies maintenance.
  • Optional HRC setting kit, includes an easy-to-use programming system with precise data for setting up the machine to meet all race situations.
